Joel and Crystal Yoder – Kristen, Janae, Kendall, Kurt, Jerrica
The Yoders joined the team in 2012 as Assistant Director and in 2018 moved into the Director role. Having seen first-hand the need for sending prepared workers, they are passionate about training workers for cross-cultural ministry. Joel guides the overall vision and organization of the MTC and helps with the teaching. Both Joel and Crystal assist with mentoring students who attend Long-Term Orientation. They love living in the city and want to help Anabaptist people catch a vision for cross-cultural ministry and church planting in cities across the world.
Jesse and margaret slabaugh – Rosa, Nathan, Joseph
The Slabaughs joined the team in 2019. As Assistant Director, Jesse takes care of many day-to-day logistical matters, including processing applications, maintenance, finances, team communication, and lodging arrangements. Jesse and Margaret are excited about preparing and empowering individuals and families that God has called to specific places and people groups around the world. They also love the opportunity to invest in young people who are seeking God’s heart through mentoring, discipleship, and hospitality.
Nathan and hannah Layman – Brienna
The Laymans joined the team in August of 2022. As the Serve NYC internship directors, Nathan & Hannah are excited to invest in young people in intentional and fun ways. Nathan will also organize and lead the WOW groups. Their daughter Brienna loves to interact with everyone and freely gives out hugs. They are grateful to minister together as a family and pursue the eternal purpose God has for their lives & those they impact.
Monica Byers
Monica joined the Team in 2017. As Hospitality Director she takes care of cooking for each of the groups that come through for training, as well as housekeeping. She meets lots of new people and is blessed with how quickly strangers can become friends. It is important to her that each person who comes through The Center feels cared for, heard, experiences God’s love and goes out with renewed zeal to share the Gospel with the people around them.
Val Peachey
Val joined the team in June of 2022 as Hospitality Assistant. She is passionate about learning, authenticity, and good coffee. Her favorite part of her job is getting to meet all the wonderful people that pass through the center and seeing them leave with a passion for making Christ known wherever He is calling them.
